Supporting local talent can be a difficult task, much more so in times when brands bombard consumers with thousands of advertising campaigns; so being a local artist is usually a task that requires many more hours of investment in all aspects.
In response, Jorie Maloney decided to create an event that supports all types of craft talent made by the local community. The Puerto Morelos Market has the mission to defend, help and protect all those small merchants who need a place to exhibit their talent.
For more than three consecutive years, The Puerto Morelos Market has had the firm conviction to favor and support the artistic genies that are located in Cancun, Puerto Morelos, part of the Riviera Maya and one or another out of state, as is the case of craftsmen from Chiapas.
It should be noted that each of the events held by The Puerto Morelos Market aims, in addition to supporting craft talent, to donate some of the profits to social purposes such as improving schools in Puerto Morelos, as well as financially supporting low-income families through the MexiCAN Compassion Project.
The next Market in Puerto Morelos will be held on July 14 at My Paradise Beach Club. There will be more than 12 artists who will carry projects such as: bikinis, yoga clothes, carpentry, jewelry and gastronomy, among others.
Those interested in participating selling their products should send a message to the Facebook of The Puerto Morelos Market to see if there is still room availability and make a single payment for the space that will be rented for the duration of the event. The total profits from the sales of their products are, in their entirety, for each of the artists. And 50% of of the event revenue is donated to local associations.
It should be noted that in addition to seeing the artists exhibiting their work, it is also planned to do activities on the beach as morning yoga sessions. For tourists or interested people who want to go in the afternoon, they will have access to the Happy Hour (3 – 4pm) at My Paradise, the beach club where the event will take place.
It is important to note that during the event we will be receiving donations of new or used children’s books, in either English or Spanish, which will be used to make a children’s library. So far, and thanks to the contributions of locals and tourists, we already have 265 books. Attendees who would like to continue supporting this cause can bring their book donations the day of the event.
See you on July 14! We will be happy to welcome you. 🙂
